Nov močan potres stresel Afganistan, zahodni del države zravnan z zemljo

Zahod Afganistana je prizadel nov potres z magnitudo 6,3. Območje je že v soboto stresel niz uničujočih potresov z magnitudami od 4,6 do 6,3 in območje v okolici mesta Herat praktično zravnal z zemljo. 

Število žrtev po sobotnem potresu je že preseglo številko 2.400, koliko dodatnih pa je terjal današnji, še ni znano. Reševalnim ekipam delo otežujejo posledice sobotnih potresov in tudi sicer slaba infrastruktura. Po prevzemu oblasti s strani Talibanov pa je usahnila tudi večina mednarodne pomoči, ki je je bila država deležna pred tem. 

Razmere v državi so bile že pred potresom katastrofalne,
